Look at the shape. Wasps and hornets are smooth and slender with a narrow waist, while honeybees are rounder and fuzzy. It’s worth knowing the difference, because honeybees are pollinators and a swarm is best handled by a local beekeeper rather than treated. If you’re not sure what you’ve got, your technician can tell you.
Spraying individual wasps isn’t an effective way to get rid of them, and you run the risk of being stung. A nest is worse, since wasps can sting repeatedly and will swarm when they feel threatened. Note where it is, keep everyone clear of it, and call us.

Whatever you do, don’t plug the hole. A plugged opening only forces the wasps to chew their way into the living area. The nest has to be treated first, and the opening sealed afterward.
